Yoh-Gürt Froz

Yoh-gurt Froz has been around since 2006 but it did not get that much attention ever since it opened, and even during the recent (and still on-going?) fro-yo craze.

Why? (Ok, this is just my fair and unbiased opinion…)

Yoh-gurt Froz’s pilot product was the Yoh-gurt Froz Original which was not properly introduced to the market. They tried to sell Yoh-gurt Froz Original as a frozen dessert which tastes closely like ice cream minus the guilt. Having Yoh-gurt Froz market frozen yogurt as an ice cream substitute made them unsuccessful. Even if it’s 100% non-fat, low in calories, and contains no table sugar, the market for ice cream is already saturated… people are starting to look for new flavors to satisfy their taste buds. Most of us, Pinoys, don’t really care about reading the labels – if it’s non-fat or low calorie – and if the ingredients will benefit our health or not, as long as it tastes the same, it is the same product!

Good thing frozen yogurts made a comeback this year… unveiling a more exciting and enticing tang which created a lot of thrill among dessert enthusiasts (including myself… and forced-to-be-dessert-enthusiast K! Hehehe! I remember how I would drag K along to different malls and bazaars just to satisfy my cravings for froyo!) The new frozen yogurt is soft-served, almost fat-free with a tangy kick - how real and natural yogurt should be!

Yoh-gurt Froz, of course, took advantage of the new and revived frozen yogurt’s growing demand. They recently introduced their line of soft-served froyo which they call the Classic Fro-Yo. Topped with fresh fruits or dry toppings, a truly smooth and creamy treat you can’t get enough of!

I must say that K and I were most impressed of Yoh-gurt Froz’s Classic Fro-Yo; it is now our top bet among all the froyo’s that we’ve tried so far. It is not airy and does not melt quickly (unlike other froyo’s that we’ve tried). The blend of sweetness and tanginess is just right. The yogurt itself is so good that you don’t need to top it with anything else!

K and I also tried the Yoh-gurt Froz Original in mango and strawberry combo. It’s not what we expected it to be – it did not have a trace of yogurt in it, it tasted purely like mango strawberry ice cream – very true to what they claim it should be. Yoh-gurt Froz Original is not really that bad if you’re just looking for a frozen treat but if you’re looking for real yogurt, it is best to have their Classic Fro-Yo.

Abbondanza Pizzeria Ristorante

My taste buds and tummy are always satisfied and pleased whenever I have an Italian meal. Pizza and pasta are my staple food. Amazing how you could have go, glow and grow all in one!

Abbondanza, The Big Italian Appetite

Opened last mid 2007, Abbondanza is another hole-in-the-wall restaurant which serves good Italian food at a reasonable price. Although Abbondaza has been around for more than a year now, K and I haven’t heard about it until recently, when we read about clickthecity.com's very positive review about this restaurant.

Spaghetti Vongole e Gamberetti
Spaghetti with clams, shrimps, tomatoes, anchovies, red wine and cream. K isn’t really a fan of anchovies so we requested not to have it on our pasta. The pasta sauce has a unique blend of tomatoes, red wine and cream that would surely tickle your taste buds. Best with chili oil and some chili flakes.

Four Seasons
Tomato, Mozzarella, Ham, Mushroom, Artichoke, Olives, Oregano, Olive Oil. The pizza had some parmesan cheese on top which is kinda off and unusual but it is, nevertheless, very good – thin crust just the way I like it: crusty and crunchy.

You must really have a big appetite for Italian dishes to enjoy Abbondanza since their servings are very generous. Hefty and reasonably priced, who can’t go wrong with Abbondanza?

Mozu Café

Mozu Café - a place I haven't heard of until one Saturday night while K and I were driving around Ortigas to look for a place to have dinner. Located at the Tower 2 of Linden Suites along Amethyst Road, this calm and cozy coffee shop will surely catch your attention.

Mozu Café, Pleasure Yourself! :-)

White Chocolate Latté for me...

Jamocha Jello for K...

Aside from coffee and tea, Mozu also serves full set meals, from appetizers to desserts!

One of Mozu’s best selling desserts is their frozen Brazo de Mercedes...

Frozen Brazo de Mercedes

Four delightful layers of delectable flavors that will surely satisfy your sweet tooth: (1) fluffy and light meringue on top, (2) yummy yemma filling, (3) cheese ice cream as the main layer, and (4) sugary crushed Graham crust. Sinful yet luscious… but it’s good to treat yourself once in a while! :-)

Full-blown Blogging

My very first post. The birth of Taste Buds and Beyond.

As you can see, I am pretty new to all of this - plain black texts, blogger.com's default layouts and templates, no fancy widgets, no catchy blog stuff. For the past months, K (my lovable better half) had been very persistent in convincing me to have a blog of my own. I have an account with Multiply, though, which is going to be more or less of the same concept as Taste Buds and Beyond - a food blog plus a little bit of everything. The only difference is that this time, I will be showing my posts and reviews to the world... to family, to friends, to colleagues, to acquaintances, to other bloggers... practically to everyone.

Today, I move out of my comfort zone to share to everyone my passion for food and experience the real world of blogging.
